Adversity causes us to measure life well,
Until nothing is taken for granted
The soul plucked from despair
Finds its heart immersed in gratitude
No greater rejoicing was ever conceived
Than the once long barren womb
Struggle only deepens the rivers of our peace,
Pain only broadens the oceans of our joy
Contrast delivers us from shallow mediocrity
Enabling us to appraise the heights and depths of Love
Light only illumines, when set against the dark
As candles burnt in noonday sun, waste their wick for naught
There’s no sweet taste of victory,
Where no battle has been fought
